Pitt loses out on Durand Scott

Durand Scott, the shooting guard from Rice in Manhattan announced this afternoon on SNY that he will be attending the University of Miami. Too bad for the Panthers, but we've still got a shot with Cheek.

  1. Disappointing news. Unfortunately I don't see Cheek coming to Pitt either

  2. I agree. I do see Cheek having a small chance of coming still. If someone like John Wall were to commit to Kansas that would most likely X the J-Hawks off of Cheek's list. That would put Pitt in a battle with Nova and Rutgers for his services. Supposedly he has a good relationship with Nova's coaches, but considering facilities and all I think those are both fights that Pitt could win. If he doesn't, that could help Pitt land Will Barton a SG for the class of 2010. Barton is an all-everything and potential McD's all-american who was a High School teammate of soon to be Panther Dante Taylor.

  3. Is Taylor a McDonald's All-American?

  4. I don't think that happens until around February.

  5. Taylor is a preliminary candidate for McDonald's All-American but like Ted Danson said they don't announce the official team until the end of February

  6. We need a couple of those McDonald's All-American types. If we want to compete for a National Title we will need some "blue chip" talent. Taylor appears to be just that. Its nice to see that we're starting to get in the mix with some of those types of guys.
