Hoops Recruit Durand Scott X's out Pitt

Apparently Durand Scott has narrowed his list to two team. Those teams do not include Pitt. UCONN and Miami seem to be Scott's top two and he should decide soon. I understand UCONN. It is a perennial power, with a great fan base, playing in the best league in the nation, with a good coach. But Miami, I'm not sure what these players are looking at. Pitt is head and shoulders above Miami when considering facilities, fan base, coaches, and I believe talent at this point. People in Miami couldn't care less about their college basketball team. Half of them probably don't even know one exists. I remember times in the past when they had ranked teams and couldn't even fill half of the stadium. I believe Miami is a decent team this year, but they are not on the level of Pitt. Also, Pitt plays in the best league in the country. Hopefully, this report is false, but all signs point to no.

  1. I know Miami just put in a new stadium down there a few years ago. Just saw the outside of it so I can't tell you how it looks, but I'm sure it's nothing compared to the Pete. Miami just lacks the consistent power and enthusiasm surrounding their program that we've had in the past couple years. 9-21 last year, cmon. Not a team that I'd want to play for.

  2. Actually Chicken Little, Miami went 23-11 last season. I also believe they advanced to the second round of the tournament. My point was that they lack any type of fan base/consecutive years of having a solid program. Not that they currently don't have a good team.

  3. I apologize. I thought they had a decent team last year like you said, but I checked their record and accidentally pulled up the women's results from last year. Despite my mistake, I'm reminded of my visit to Miami in early March last year. I was in the Coral Gables area for about a week (right around the time of the ACC tournament) with no noticeable enthusiasm in the area.

  4. I mean, to say Pitt has been successful the last "couple" quite an understatement. Having winning season and playing in the NCAA tournament 7 years in a row now and competing for the Big East tournament championship is more than a couple. But we get your point Little Chicken.
